Accomplishments: I’ve Moved

Like clockwork, every two years or so I pick up and move my blog. Well, this is the last time. I’ve moved my blog and renamed it as Kaleidoscopic Raygun. Go and check it out. It’s not much different than here, but it’s there.

Actually, I recently met up with Detroit Bloggers and met a bunch of awesome people with awesome blogs and most of them had clever or interesting names (the blogs had interesting names, the people had normal names, fyi) and mine did not. People blogged about being Moms and I thought that was cool. Another guy blogged about being a Dad. And that was cool. I told everyone all about spunkybean – I’m way proud of that thing. But I had to do some soul searching to figure out just what exactly is Don’s Ego all about?

Am I a writer/humourist sampling my writing? Am I just journaling personal experiences for my own amusement? Am I trying to provide life lessons?

I still don’t have an answer, but I have a new blog. It’s a start. It’ll still be all over the map, but I’m hoping I can use it for sharing more stories, life lessons and anecdotes, some creative writing, and use it to push my personal brands and start-up businesses.

Kaleidoscopic Raygun will be like a scratch pad for a bunch of my other writing. Yes …that’s it. I hope you check it out.

Wish Lists, Part 2: Conan O’Brien & Mid-November Update

Please make a note that I’ve added a few things to the Christmas Wish-List on the right. The recent addition is an Aeropress which, according to cousin Scott, makes the best cup of coffee a person can dream of having. In fact, way out west (where the Beastie Boys claim they can’t find a Fat Burger …or a flat burger), he frequents a fancy coffee shop and when he requests a grind option for his beans, they specially grind it for his Aeropress. And, whilst chatting with the coffee-making-person (whom I’m sure he refers to as his “barista”), they both talk about how, at home, they only use an Aeropress.

I haven’t had much time to research it, so if you could research an Aeropress versus a French Press, I’d appreciate it and value your judgement. Just know …I might return whatever you give me if I find the other coffee prep method is better.  Thanks for understanding.

The reason for this blog entry is to link back to spunkybean, and then also to tell everyone here that I wrote an article about Conan O’Brien there (on spunkybean, that is).  I love Conan. I think he’s a genius. But last night, I felt like I was watching a defeated man. But …I think he’ll shake off this sluggish start and before you know it, he’ll be making headlines and he’ll be funnier than ever. If they took bets on such things in Vegas, I’d bet on Conan every day and twice on Sunday.

Also, as my kids are obsessed with this song, this blog entry is a place I can embed Willow Smith’s “Whip My Hair” video. Yes. She’s Will Smith’s and Jada Pinkett’s daughter. Named “Willow” after Will.  And their son is Jayden …after Jada. And, yes, Will Smith has the greatest life and now his kids are awesome, too. And I’d like to say I wish horrible things on him, but I like him, too. He seems classy and funny and somewhat normal, so I can’t invent a reason to hate him. Hell …even the tabloids leave him alone. What gives?!?!?

Oh …so anyway. Here’s “Whip My Hair.” Be warned …it’ll get stuck in your head.
